eConsult-Monthly clinical roundup

eConsult  | 6th September 2024

Hi all,

Thanks for your really positive feedback on our first clinical round-up. Please do keep sharing your thoughts on what you’d like us to improve/include going forward.

NEW THIS MONTH  💻

Medication request pathway – practices can now choose to include this template into their administrative flow. This will give patients a quick way to request repeat and acute prescriptions. Please get in touch if you’d like us to switch this pathway on.

Bites & Stings and Adult Sore Throat pathways have been brought in line with Pharmacy First clinical pathways, showing exclusions as red flags.

• Our Headache pathway has undergone an extensive review, including input from multiple specialists to accommodate National Neuroscience Advisory Group guidelines. This includes improvements to migraine questions and is part of a wider evaluation to reduce advice and guidance/referral bounce backs.

Adult and Paeds Travel Advice pathways have been updated to remove reference to EHIC cards (unless still in date) and replaced them with reference to GHIC cards

• Annual review and update of adult templates for elbow problem, hip problem, hand problem, foot problem and ankle problem. Cauda Equina symptoms have now been incorporated where relevant based on a clinical incident.

OTHER NEW FEATURES – LIVE NOW ✅

Admin Bypass

We’ve now launched our new admin bypass feature to give you further control and flexibility to manage incoming eConsults based on capacity. It allows you to:

• Receive administrative eConsults when clinical is switched off;

• Choose to receive administrative eConsults at any point, or during your practice opening hours only;

• Set a separate cap for clinical and administrative requests so you can still receive administrative eConsults when you have reached your scheduled cap for clinical eConsults.

Administrative pathways review and improvement – we are reviewing these with the aim of supporting patients who wish to contact their practice to arrange nurse appointments for smear tests, the removal of stitches, injections etc

AI Transcription – this exciting new feature will save practices time by capturing a synchronous dialogue between the patient and clinician, and creating a summary note to add to the clinical system. If you’d like to be involved in the early testing, please get in touch!

PCARP funding update

If you know practices who would benefit from using eConsult, or if you’re looking to use eConsult as a PCN, PCARP funding is available for practices who wish to move to eConsult. Please take a look at the full detail Here.

As always, please get in touch if you have any feedback or suggestions! Any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Thanks,

Dr Chris Whittle,

Chief Medical Officer at eConsult
