eConsult is joining forces with Huma to accelerate digital-first care.

A letter from a GP to all the amazing GPs in the world:
As a group of NHS GPs, we started eConsult within our own practice with a vision to improve access for NHS patients and create efficiency for our teams. We pioneered a digital first approach and have transformed the model of NHS general practice over the past 10 years.
We have expanded to cover 1 in 3 NHS practices and delivered over 50 million consultations. With Huma we saw a “better together” opportunity to bring more automation, more AI, greater capability and a chance to create one solution to cover triage, screening, remote patient monitoring and more.
We are excited to share that we have now been acquired by Huma Therapeutics which is fantastic news for GPs. We will create an Apple-quality experience for NHS patients and clinicians alike. Unifying best-in-class technologies, eConsult’s digital triage platform and iPLATO’s patient communication platform (already part of the Huma group) are now beneficiaries of Huma’s global AI and cloud expertise as we launch the Huma Workspace.
eConsult and iPLATO’s collective footprint already supports over 50 million patients to access digital first care. We will start by strengthening eConsult’s core proposition for practices and patients by integrating iPLATO’s functionality for primary care.
eConsult CEO and co-founder, Dr Murray Ellender explains what’s next, “I’m focussed on how we can do more collectively to help both patients and clinicians. We have strong roots in both primary and secondary care – we understand what the market needs is to fix crippling demand challenges. This is an exciting opportunity for both our users and our employees to accelerate the shift to digital first healthcare”
Tobias Alpsten, iPLATO co-founder, explains “Combining our expertise made sense from day one. Together, we can do more to harness digital technologies, AI and the cloud to benefit patients, carers, clinicians and payers in the UK and around the world.”
Very soon we expect to see significant benefits to all patients, ICBs, GP practices, Community Trusts and Hospitals using our software.
