eConsult is proud to be one of thirty companies selected as part of the second cohort of DigitalHealth.London’s Accelerator programme.
The programme aims to speed up adoption of technology in London’s NHS, relieving pressure on services and empowering patients to manage their health. DigitalHealth.London – voted in the top 100 global healthtech brands – is on a mission to unite healthcare and new technologies, and bring it in line with other industries.
A recent survey of 2,000 UK adults found that only 33% of people had booked a GP appointment online, while 72% had booked a hotel stay online, and 59% had gone online to book a train ticket. We realise there’s still a long way to go in bringing the benefits of digital healthcare to the public, so we’re thrilled to be part of this major programme.
As London GPs ourselves, we have first-hand knowledge of working within the NHS, and we have collaborated with several CCGs and individual GPs to develop and deliver eConsult, with more exciting new developments in the pipeline. This programme will deepen our knowledge further and help us get even closer to the NHS.
We’ll be assigned our own Digital Health (NHS) Navigator, an experienced professional from the NHS with the expertise to understand our needs, products and business model. Through them, we’ll be able to engage better with clinicians and healthcare experts, refine our products to meet real needs in the NHS, deepen our understanding of the health system, showcase our products and develop our business model in a way that will accelerate product development. Crucially, we will also have better access to one of our key markets.
Hannah Harniess, Programme Director, DigitalHealth.London Accelerator, said: “With ever-increasing pressures on health and care services, the Accelerator aims to lead companies into the complex world of NHS procurement; speeding up adoption of innovation and ensuring that patients benefit from emerging new technology, more rapidly. We are blown away by the success of the first cohort and our NHS Navigators are keen to get started with this next set of fresh, talented entrepreneurs.”

DigitalHealth.London is a collaboration between the three London Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs): Imperial College Health Partners, UCLPartners, the Health Innovation Network, and MedCity, with support from NHS England and the Mayor’s Office.
DigitalHealth.London worked with over 100 senior NHS, commercial and technical experts to assess 127 companies’ business credibility and the likely benefit their innovations could deliver at a pan-London level, and from these 127, this year’s cohort of 30 companies was selected.
