What is eConsult?
eConsult enables NHS based GP practices to offer online consultations to their patients. This allows patients to submit their symptoms or requests to their own GP electronically and offers around the clock NHS self-help information, signposting to services, and a symptom checker.
eConsult is the most widely used digital and online triage tool in NHS primary care, built by NHS GPs for NHS patients, designed to enhance patient access, improve practice efficiencies and signpost patients to the right place at the right time for their care. Live in over 3,200 NHS practices, eConsult gives millions of patients access to their own GP online.

How does eConsult work?
eConsult is easy for patients and practices
eConsult lets your patients consult with their own NHS GP online by completing a quick form that is sent and reviewed by the practice. We can also direct the patient to self-help, pharmacy advice and local self-referral services.

Reduce GP practice waiting times
It takes GPs only 2-3 minutes to process an eConsult, and research shows that 70% of requests are closed without the need for a
face-to-face appointment. Your patients can get NHS based help via eConsult anytime, even outside of surgery hours.

"My experience was first class, I needed a prescription for eye drops which I’d had several years ago & the condition had flared again. It was ideal to just request the prescription without having to take up a valuable face to face or telephone appointment. I’m very happy with eConsult & will definitely use it in the future & recommend it to family & friends."
"Very impressed - a doctor had assessed my symptoms and identified the need for action the same day. Very efficient and saved a visit either to A&E or walk in centre."
"Perfect service. Means I didn't have to find time during my working day to make a call. I didn't take up an appointment slot. I was left a clear message and felt well looked after."
"This service means I don't have to waste Doctors time, and it means my sick note can be made available to me simply and efficiently. It's a great service."
What are online consultations?
An online consultation enables you to contact a GP or other health professional over the internet. It saves you waiting for an appointment or going to the GP surgery. You can tell your GP about your health using a smartphone, tablet or computer. The type of online consultation you have depends on your GP surgery.
