Commercial Manager – The Role:

We are the market leader for digital consultations within Primary Care. We now aim to replicate this position in new growth markets. This role is integral to that success and provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to build a sales function and create strategies that will deliver short- and long-term business objectives within largely untapped markets. The successful candidate will be taking on a leadership role within the Commercial team and work with colleagues to deliver revenue targets and drive product evolution.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Deliver Secondary Care sales targets in line with annual budgets and Company Strategy
  • Create and own business strategies that tap into funding opportunities and shorten the sales cycle
  • Pivot those strategies as required (eg. as markets are created by the NHS)
  • Business development, prospecting, sales activities and lead management 
  • Undertake product pitches to key stakeholder groups
  • Develop proactive customer relationships that support retention and allow for efficient upselling and cross-selling
  • Develop and grow market share of our Urgent & Emergency and Outpatient offers in designated markets
  • Lead and develop a team that owns and manages this portfolio of accounts (inc Account Managers and Sales Executives) to deliver departmental and business objectives
  • Support and execute the development of sales and customer retention strategies in relevant markets
  • Support product and marketing development
  • Work with the wider business to ensure products are delivered to customers as promised

Key Accountabilities:

  • Deliver market share objectives for Urgent & Emergency and Outpatient within acute NHS Trusts and other relevant markets
  • Build and lead a customer-facing team that supports target delivery in those markets
  • Collaborate with the Primary Care team to build and execute strategies that link health economies based on geography
  • Regularly report into line manager and the wider business in terms of team performance

Your Skills

To succeed in this role, you will need to have: 

  • Highly agile as products are in constant evolution
  • Knowledge of IG and NHS contract frameworks
  • Demonstrated excellent internal and external stakeholder management
  • Strong presentation skills, written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, ability to build interpersonal relationships
  • Strong negotiation skills that allow for value-based contract negotiations
  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders with differing degrees of digital maturity
  • Experience of Salesforce and MS Office is highly desirable

Your Experience:

We expect you to have:

  • 5+ years of experience of selling/business development into NHS Hospitals and NHS Trusts (preferably IT/Software products)
  • Deep knowledge of procurement and funding opportunities within NHS Hospital and NHS Trusts
  • 5+ years of leading and managing a customer-facing team
  • Proven high levels of performance in role 
  • Proven experience of contract management 
  • An established “network” of decision-makers that would allow you to hit the ground running
